We are proud of Sarbmeet and all of his accomplishments and especially his dedication to MOSAIC and getting the word out about the importance of interfaith collaboration. In his own words:
I connected my talk to the MOSAIC Project because to me it is an example of what we need to do in order to help the cosmos move to its next natural stage of continuing evolution (the building of a harmonious and peaceful Earth-Wide community)
Chaos to Cosmos
It is natural for chaos to precede the accomplishment of a goal that is grandiose enough to demand the elevation of the human race to its next level. Our cosmic history shows that unprecedented results emerge from extraordinary determination to push through chaos to its culmination. “Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it,” goes the taunt. The history we really need to learn is the 14 billion year one, which encompasses an unmitigated series of momentous success stories – atoms, galaxies, stars, planets, life, and self-awareness! And we hope that this history keeps repeating itself. Each of our universe’s successes came after initial periods of chaos and struggle. Now, for the first time, the road from chaos to success depends not just on nature, but also on human intentions! Here’s the question: Is our species mature enough to channel its intentions responsibly?
Sarbmeet Kanwal, PhD teaches Astronomy and Modern Physics at Brookdale Community College, where he was recognized as an Outstanding Instructor in 2016. He has a PhD from Caltech in Theoretical Particle Physics., and started teaching after a long and successful career in research and engineering at Bell Labs. His public lectures on popular astronomy topics such as Black Holes, Big Bang, and the Search for Alien Life have boosted his reputation for demystifying obscure topics for lay audiences. Sarbmeet is an ardent community advocate and volunteer. He is a founding member of Garden State MOSAIC an interfaith youth education program, for which he received the Earl Thomas Teasley Humanitarian Award from the Monmouth County Human Relations Commission. Sarbmeet is a longtime board member of the Monmouth Center for World Religions and Ethical Thought. He promotes STEM education through volunteering his time at community science fairs, supervising student science projects, and teaching at after-school programs.
