SUMMARY:Understanding Our Righteous Minds and Ideological Divisions
DESCRIPTION:A Look at the Work of Jonathan Haidt\n \n \n \n	\n\nWednesday\, April 4\, 2018\n7:00 pm\nUUCMC Community Room\n1475 West Front Street\, Lincroft\, NJ 07738\nUnderstanding Our Righteous Minds and Ideological Divisions \n – A look at the Work of Jonathan Haidt\n\n \n\nA Discussion with Mary Carol Day    \nSocial psychologist Jonathan Haidt believes that morality is the key to understanding human nature. His work challenges the conventional thinking about our moral judgements and helps us understand why good people are divided by religion and politics.  How do we make moral judgments?  Why do liberals\, conservatives and libertarians have such different intuitions about right and wrong?  Haidt gives us a key to understanding both the miracle of human cooperation and the curse of our division. \n\nMary Carol Day serves on the Board of MCWRET and is an active member of UUCMC.  She received an Ed. D. in Human Development from Harvard University\, specializing in cognitive development.  While at Harvard\, she studied with Lawrence Kohlberg\, who pioneered the study of developmental changes in moral reasoning.  Mary Carol’s career has spanned academia (Assistant Professor at the University of Houston)\, business (Technical Manager at AT&T Bell Labs\, Director at Angel Medical Systems)\, and consulting (MC Day Consulting).  Now retired\, she is excited to be learning and sharing new psychological theory and research. \n\nThis will also be the Annual Meeting of the MCWRET. For additional information feel free to contact Liz Congdon at 609-954-1450 or Lizcongdon@comcast.net \n\n\nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)\n Tumblr

SUMMARY:MOSAIC: Rise Against Hunger Service Project
DESCRIPTION:MOSAIC TEENS to join in to try to END HUNGER BY 2030!\nOur Teens and friends will become “hunger champions” for the organization RISE AGAINST HUNGER\, on Sunday\, March 11\, 2018 at Temple Shaari Emeth in Manalapan\, to literally package 10\,000 meals! \nThe “Rise Against Hunger” event is an interactive packaging experience like no other.  A group of 40-50 volunteers can package more than 10\,000 meals in just 2 hours!  Volunteers are one of the essential resources that Rise Against Hunger needs to help realize the vision of a world without hunger.  Did you know that 66 million primary school-age children attend classes hungry across the developing world?  RAH is driven by a mission to end hunger in our lifetime by providing food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable and creating a global commitment to mobilize the necessary resources.  RAH has partnered with the United Nations to try to end hunger by 2030. \nAnother core focus of Rise Against Hunger is to respond to crises both natural and man-made. From droughts to floods\, in conflict zones and transitioning political situations\, food is often the most immediate need.  Responses to these needs occur not only around the world but right here in the United States in areas such as Puerto Rico and mainland United States after devastating hurricanes. \nOur teams of volunteers will prepare dry ingredients of rice\, soy\, vitamins and minerals which are put into bags which are sealed and stored. Each bag contains six (6) life-saving meals of nourishment. This exciting and fun event will fulfill one of the outreach commitments to alleviate hunger both here and abroad whenever food is needed. \nRise Against Hunger will partner with our Teens and Faith Leaders of MOSAIC to put into practice what all faiths believe — “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”  (Mother Theresa) \nPlease sponsor our MOSAIC Teens to help raise the resources to package 10\,000 meals on March 11th.  Each meal that is packaged\, costs thirty (30) cents!!! \nIf you wish to make a donation “on-line” here is the link to do so. \nBelow I have attached the event link for you to share with everyone looking to register/donate for this event. \nhttp://events.stophungernow.org/Mosaic Meal Packing Event \n \nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)\n Tumblr
