SUMMARY:Understanding Our Righteous Minds and Ideological Divisions
DESCRIPTION:A Look at the Work of Jonathan Haidt\n \n \n \n	\n\nWednesday\, April 4\, 2018\n7:00 pm\nUUCMC Community Room\n1475 West Front Street\, Lincroft\, NJ 07738\nUnderstanding Our Righteous Minds and Ideological Divisions \n – A look at the Work of Jonathan Haidt\n\n \n\nA Discussion with Mary Carol Day    \nSocial psychologist Jonathan Haidt believes that morality is the key to understanding human nature. His work challenges the conventional thinking about our moral judgements and helps us understand why good people are divided by religion and politics.  How do we make moral judgments?  Why do liberals\, conservatives and libertarians have such different intuitions about right and wrong?  Haidt gives us a key to understanding both the miracle of human cooperation and the curse of our division. \n\nMary Carol Day serves on the Board of MCWRET and is an active member of UUCMC.  She received an Ed. D. in Human Development from Harvard University\, specializing in cognitive development.  While at Harvard\, she studied with Lawrence Kohlberg\, who pioneered the study of developmental changes in moral reasoning.  Mary Carol’s career has spanned academia (Assistant Professor at the University of Houston)\, business (Technical Manager at AT&T Bell Labs\, Director at Angel Medical Systems)\, and consulting (MC Day Consulting).  Now retired\, she is excited to be learning and sharing new psychological theory and research. \n\nThis will also be the Annual Meeting of the MCWRET. For additional information feel free to contact Liz Congdon at 609-954-1450 or Lizcongdon@comcast.net \n\n\nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)\n Tumblr
