DESCRIPTION:HONORING DR. KING IN MONMOUTH COUNTY\n \n \n \n	\n\nSaturday\, January 13\nMLK FILM PRESENTATION\n3: 00 PM – 5:30 PM \nMonmouth Reform Temple \n332 Hance Avenue\, Tinton Falls \nInfo: 732-747-9365 \nPresentation of the film: ROSENWALD \nRemarkable story of a Jewish partnership with African American Communities\n\n\nFifty-one years ago a plane landed on the half-mile strip of asphalt at Red Bank Airport on October 6\, 1966. \nAmong those who stepped off that plane was Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.\, who made his way to what was then called Monmouth College and delivered a message that had those who left the gymnasium brimming with optimism\, renewed with hope\, and ready to answer King’s challenge “to unite to make justice a reality.” \nA campaign for a federal holiday in King’s honor began soon after his assassination in 1968. \nPresident Ronald Reagan signed the holiday into law in 1983\, and it was first\nobserved three years later. \nIt was officially observed in all 50 states for the first time in 2000. \nMartin Luther King Jr. Day is an American federal holiday marking the\nbirthday of Martin Luther King Jr observed on the third Monday of January each year \nThis year the federal holiday falls on what would have been the 89th birthday of Dr. King \nJoin in celebrating Dr. King’s legacy by finding ways to give back to Your Community \nUse Martin Luther King Day\, Monday\, January 15\, 2018 as a launching Pad for year round volunteer opportunities\nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)\n Tumblr
